This auction features a prized and very rare political timepiece, the Charles and Diana "Loyal Subjects" watch! This is one in a series of five political watches manufactured by Punch Line in 1990, all of which are valued and rare collectors pieces today. The other subjects in the series included George Bush, Barbara Bush, Gorbachev, and Brian Mulroney. This mint condition collectible is in brand-new condition, is unworn and running strong with a new battery professionally placed. The watch ships in its original purple sueded watch pouch with gold accents. This piece is showcased in the political watch section of Brown and Thomas’ character watch tome "Comic Character Timepieces" as a valuable addition to any character or political watch collector’s inventory (see picture below). This book is considered by many to be the ultimate resource for information on collectible character watches.

The gleaming goldtoned watch case offsets the simple and elegant white dial, which features the royal couple and little else but the watch hands. The functions are different as well; rather than pulling out the crown to change the time, simply press a pen tip or paper clip tip to the center of the crown and watch the hands turn to the time desired. On the dial, Charles is sporting his polo gear and wielding a mallet in one hand, while Diana is resplendent in a haute couture gown and heels. Both are giving the "royal wave" as if looking out on an audience. In face, the gold lettering on the pouch reads "to our loyal subjects" alongside a gold crest featuring the Punch Line logo. This model was produced in happier times, before the couple’s highly publicized divorce in 1996 and Diana’s untimely and tragic death in 1997.
